Touché Hosts "I Wanna Be a Cowboy Party" TONIGHT
Touché has renamed the Cowboy Fetish event mentined in the last few mailings to the less erotic "I Wanna Be a Cowboy Party." Touché is one of our longtime sponsors, so please make every effort you can to come to this and help repay their support of ILGRA. They'll be playing C&W music in the front bar. We will have raffles for some of prize baskets and a gift certificate from Alcala's (another longtime sponsor). The Royalty will have Patrick's quickly-becoming notorious Jello shots for sale. We will also have tickets for the upcoming Jeffrey Theater Trip (see article on below). The party starts at 10PM and will run until we wear out, so you can come over after you get your 2-step dancing fix. Wear yer cowboy duds.
A Derby Affair - May 3
Come join us at Charlie's on May 3rd for the running of the Kentucky Derby. ILGRA will be co-hosting A Derby Affair, a fundraiser to benefit DirectAid. There will be games and raffles and the whole thing will be capped by the most exciting 124.3 seconds in sports.
We're a Little Bit Country Show at Club Krave - May 9
ILGRA will be hosting a "We're A Little Bit Country" event at Club Krave in Blue Island. A casting call is out for performers and volunteers. Performers need to have two numbers, one country one something else. Volunteers can help with raffles, the quickly-becoming notorious Jello shots, and whatever else Patrick can come up with. The show starts at 10 PM. If you can help, contact Patrick at cherisepretty@aol.com.
Membership Meeting - May 18 at Touché
The time for the membership meeting has been tentatively moved back to 6PM, Board at 5:30. This is to allow us to move en masse from Touché to dinner and then on to the Pumps and Pearl show at Charlie's. This change is dependent on space being available at Touché.
Pumps and Pearls - May 18 at Charlie's
Pumps & Pearls returns at 8:00 PM. This is the annual "switch" show where boys are girls and girls are boys. It's combined with Karaoke so it promises to be an entertaining event. In addtition to the show we'll have the usual ILGRA shenanigans going on.
Jeffrey ILGRA Benefit Performance - June 07 at the Towle Community Theater, Hammond, IN
Here's an opportunity to participate in a different sort of fundraiser. The fine folks at the Towle Community Theater are hosting a benefit performance of Jeffrey for ILGRA. A portion of all ticket, and beverage sales will be donated to ILGRA. In addition, we will be having a raffle at the performance. This is a great opportunity for the Indiana-folk to come to an event without having to trek all the way to Chicago. Tickets are $15 and can be bought online at www.towletheater.org.
For those of us coming from Chicago, we will be running a bus from Charlie's down to the theater. This shuttle will leave at 6:00 PM and return a little after 11:00 (just in time for dancing). We will have a light airline-like box meal on the shuttle. Tickets for the shuttle (which include the meal and theater admission) are $30 for members, and $40 for non-members. We want to bring 45 people in from Chicago to the performance. This is a big commitment for ILGRA. Please try to attend and bring a friend, or three. If you've ever traveled on an ILGRA shuttle anywhere, you know you're in for a good time. You can get more information on this event, and how to purchase shuttle tickets, by dropping a line to info@ilgra.com.
Midsommarfest - June 14-15 in Andersonville
We will kick off the summer festival season in mid-June with Andersonviille's Midsommarfest.
This is the first of three (the other two are Pride and Market Days) Festivals at which we promote the Rodeo and ILGRA.Midsommarfest is a much less hectic event than Market Days and presents a great opportunity for outreach. Volunteers are needed to man our tent on both days. If you're available, please drop a note to info@ilgra.com and it will be forwarded to the event coordinator. If you'd like to coordinate this event and the other street fairs, the "Booth Bitch" position is available. contact Steve Schultz at president@ilgra.com to sign on.
